The American Legation
A piece of American history inside the medina.
The Tangier American Legation was given to the United States by Sultan Moulay Slimane in 1821. It was the first American public property abroad.
Today it is a museum and cultural centre, with rooms on the long relationship between Morocco and the United States and a section devoted to Paul Bowles.
It is a calm, shaded stop in the middle of a medina walk.
