The best beaches in and around Tangier
City sand, Atlantic surf and quiet coves on the Mediterranean side.
The municipal beach runs along the Corniche and is the easiest to reach on foot. Malabata, at the eastern end of the bay, is calmer.
West of the city, the Atlantic beaches of Achakar and Sidi Kacem are wide and open, with stronger waves and long sunsets.
East, along the road to Tanger Med, the coast turns into small coves with clear water. Go early in summer: the best spots fill up by midday.
