The dates of Ramadan move earlier each year. During the day many cafés and restaurants are closed or quieter, though hotels continue to serve guests.
At sunset the fast is broken and the city comes alive: streets fill, cafés reopen and the Corniche is busy late into the night.
Eat and drink discreetly in public during the day, and plan activities for the morning.
